In August of 1991 Bob started working for the Charter Township of Clinton.  It was there that he learned his fellow employees took part in delivering toys for the Clinton Township Goodfellows in their quest for “No Child without a Christmas”.

For the first few years Bob helped on and off delivering toys with the DPW Department and that’s where he met Mr. Steiner.   As the years went by Bob decided he would help out every year and worked alongside Mr. Steiner making sure that all the toys were delivered after they were packed.

After about 10 years the Charter Township of Clinton was no longer able to have the employees deliver toys during work hours but Bob still wanted to participate so he decided to take personal time off for the delivery days. Eventually Bob took over the toy deliveries for Mr. Steiner, became a board member of the Clinton Township Goodfellows and now has his own crew that works very hard at making sure all the packages are delivered each year. Sharon Harrison, Immediate Past President of the Goodfellows said; “she was elated to hear that Bob would help the Goodfellows with their toy deliveries, he is a man who is well organized, knows the Township like the back of this hand and is a caring person.  I don’t know what we would have done if Bob hadn’t come to our rescue along with Tom Tignanelli and his wonderful crew”.

Bob puts in many hours before packing time comes along, he has to make sure we have a building for packing with working utilities, tables, boxes, packing supplies and pallets for packing the toys.  He picks up the registration cards so he can map them out for the deliveries and keeps inventory of them.  Bob makes many phone calls to make sure everyone on his delivery team is ready, and everything is in the building and set up before packing day.  After all the toys are delivered its time to pack away all of the supplies, clean up the building, pay for storage for the next year and look back at another successful year.

As you may or may not know Bob has also been a member of the Boy Scouts of America.  He was a Boy Scout and when his son Kyle turned six they both joined a Cub Scout Pack where Bob was a leader for five years.  He and his son continued onto join a Boy Scout Troop and Bob was also a leader for a few years and then took over the Scout Master position for a few more years.  Bob was very proud when his son earned the rank of Eagle Scout six years ago and Bob is still a member of the troop and holds the Committee Chair position.

Bob always enjoys helping out whenever he can for a good cause and the Goodfellows is definitely an organization he is proud to be a member of.  He has met many wonderful people who have a great passion for the community’s children and plans on being a long time member.
